week 18: Night in the Country

Fine and Performing Arts:

This week we had friends come over and we painted with all kinds of paints.  we used finger paints and water colors and different kinds of paper.  I also saved up my birthday money and bought a new coloring book from Costco with beautiful animals with designs inside their figures.  

Social Studies:

Families in the country often time grow their food.  And Families in the city often times buy their food from the store.  My family buys some food from the stores and grows some of our food.  We have rabbits we raise and eat and we can tomatoes from our garden for spaghetti sauce and soups.  But we buy eggs and milk from the store. Farmers who live in the country grow food for their jobs My Papa works at a hospital to pay for our food. Science: We learned about the land structures that our found in the country.  Fields of grass, streams, roads and hills.   I painted a pictures of a farm with animals and a garden.   We talked about how plants use dirt, water and sunlight to grow.  I helped my Papa decide what things we want to grow in our garden this year.  We plan to grow, sunflowers, pumpkins, carrots, lettuce and tomatoes.  We live in town but we like to garden like people in the country.   Math:For math we used M&M and pretended they where apples dropping from an apple tree.  We subtracted the apples that fell from the tree then I practiced writing the subtraction equations.   Reading: This week we read "Night in the Country" it's about what happens at night in the country.  Like you can hear frogs in the pond singing, and see the stars so bright in the sky. The Country is a place where it's really dark at night.  It's far away from the city and street lights, and the houses are far apart with lots of fields in between. Another meaning of the word Country is a nation.  Like the Philippines is a country and the United States is a country.
