Week 3: The little Island

This week we read "The little Island". The Author Margaret also wrote Good Night Moon. That is one of my favorite books. My favorite part of the book "The Little Island" is the kitten. I liked that the kitten talked to the fish. The kitten told the fish "I'll eat you all up, if you don't answer this question."

What to do when I'm not doing enough

start with/ pick something you want to do then do it consistently. Read everyday after lunch or just read for 30 minutes every day. then when that habit is in choose another thing to do, maybe it is a life thing, clean up every day, do art every monday or whatever , just pick one or two things and do them. They don't have to be super planned or spectacular or anything else, just do that thing. Another thing I did was look for windows or pockets where we could read, cuddle, do fun math, etc, so often it just takes a minute. We usually had a book on tape in the car, or played games or did tongue twisters or something in the car. Being open to teachable moments also helps. have her count the oranges, sort the silverware, match the socks, ( all reading and math skills) draw outside, start a garden, carry a measuring tape and let your child measure everything. don't worry on the days that don't work, just start over.
